A unique heritage
Port Salut’s unique heritage stretches back over 200 years, when the original recipe of this smooth and mild cheese was first perfected by Trappist monks at the Abbaye de Port Salut in the Loire. It was considered such an exciting and delicious innovation that flags were raised in Paris when it arrived in the market! Find out more about our long heritage here.
Greater convenience
Today, our master cheesemakers harness that same spirit of innovation and desire for perfection. Port Salut slices are carefully cut in a rectangular shape to fit in your lunchtime baguette, in your roll or on a cracker (there’s even a slip of paper between the cheese slices to stop them sticking together, making them easier to take out of the pack). Heritage and convenience in a single slice – just add a crunchy apple or walnuts on warm crusty bread for a perfect Port Salut moment! Delicious.
